WhatsApp, the world’s most popular messaging app, has begun testing a new feature that will further enhance the user experience. This feature, available in the Android beta version of the app, now allows users to leave voicemails directly after missed calls.
WhatsApp Launches New Voicemail Feature
Currently being tested by a limited number of beta users, this feature adds a new option to the screen that appears when you call someone and don’t get an answer. A “Leave Voicemail” button now appears alongside the previous “Recall” and “Cancel” options. This allows you to quickly send a voicemail to the person you missed.

This new shortcut also appears in the chat window. This allows you to send a voicemail with a single tap, eliminating the need to navigate elsewhere. Users previously could send voicemails by tapping the microphone icon in the chat screen. However, this new feature makes the process much more convenient and faster, especially for emergencies or important notes.
This feature, currently in testing, is not yet clear when it will be available to all users after the beta phase concludes.
This move is part of WhatsApp’s effort to make its voice and video calling features more functional. This system, similar to the answering machine logic in traditional phone calls, allows users to maintain uninterrupted communication.
It offers a time-saving solution, especially for those with busy schedules or those who want to share information instantly. This feature reinforces WhatsApp’s vision of becoming a versatile communication platform, transcending its role as a text-based messaging app.
