WhatsApp has released a new iOS update through the TestFlight beta Program and with this update the version number has been increased to 24.6.10.73. In this update, WhatsApp is working on the feature to create group chat events for communities.
What’s new in WhatsApp iOS beta 24.6.10.73?
It was recently revealed that WhatsApp was working on a feature that would allow users to create events in communities. This feature is designed to help users create reminders for specific events or virtual meetings.
As you can see in the screenshot, in future updates of the app, users will be given the option to create events in community group chats. These events will include a name, a description of up to 2048 characters, a designated start date, an optional location, and the ability to start a video call when the event starts.
Once the event starts, all community members who accept the invitation will receive a notification reminding them of the event details. Community group chat events are end-to-end encrypted and only community members will be allowed access.
The ability to create group chat events for communities will make a significant contribution by increasing interaction between members and making it easier to organize virtual meetings, reminders or special events within the community.
It should be noted that WhatsApp is also considering introducing this feature for regular groups that are not related to communities, but this feature may not be available soon.
The ability to create group chat events for communities is in development and will be available in a future update of the app. What do you think about WhatsApp iOS beta feature? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
