WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will make group communication more effective. This enhanced mention feature, called “Mention All,” was introduced in WhatsApp Android 2.25.30.12 beta.
WhatsApp is testing the enhanced mention feature
The new “Mention All” feature allows all group members to be notified using a single hashtag. This provides a convenient way to ensure no member misses important updates, reminders, or announcements. To clarify the feature’s purpose, WhatsApp has decided to use the hashtag “@all” instead of the original “@everyone.”

However, different rules apply to using this hashtag depending on the group size. In small groups, the “@all” hashtag can be used to reach everyone, while in larger groups with more than 32 participants, only group admins will be allowed to use this hashtag.
This limitation will prevent excessive notifications in large groups and keep group chats more organized. For example, admins can use the “@all” tag to share meeting times, event details, or other important updates, keeping all members informed without being constantly interrupted by alerts.
Users will also have the option to mute contacts using the “@all” tag if they prefer not to receive these types of mass notifications. Mention Everyone is still in development and is currently only being actively tested in the WhatsApp beta program. The feature is not yet available to all users, but it will be rolled out to the general public in a future update once testing is complete.
