WhatsApp has introduced a timed status feature in the About section with the release of beta version 2.25.22.22 on Android. Currently in testing, this feature allows users to set a specific time period for their profile descriptions, automatically deleting them when they expire.
WhatsApp to Offer Timed Status
The new system gives users complete control over their profile information. Users can decide how long their descriptions will be visible. Options include short time periods such as 30 minutes, 1 hour, and 1 day, as well as custom schedules that can be extended up to a month. The feature is a particularly practical solution for short vacations, temporary events, or periodic updates.

The shared description is prominently displayed at the top of the chat screen. This allows users to directly access the most up-to-date information without having to visit the other person’s profile page. Because the status information alternates with the last seen time, both the user’s status and online information can be monitored simultaneously, enhancing the communication context.
When the timer is activated, the expiration date of the status is clearly specified in the app settings. Users can change this information or manually remove it before the status expires. Additionally, the ability to add emojis to captions makes posts more personal and engaging.
When the status expires, the post is automatically removed from the profile. However, this information remains stored in an archive accessible only to the user. This way, previously added captions are not lost and can be viewed again when necessary.
With this system, WhatsApp offers a more flexible structure for both personal privacy and content control. It is not yet clear when the feature will be integrated into the stable version.
