WhatsApp has launched a new security feature to increase the level of privacy in users’ messaging experience. The advanced chat privacy feature, introduced with the WhatsApp beta 2.25.10.14 update released for the Android platform, limits the automatic saving of media files to the gallery and the export of chat histories.
WhatsApp increases messaging security with its new feature
The new feature will provide users with more control over selected chats. In conversations where the feature is activated, photos and videos sent or received are not automatically stored in the device’s gallery.

This function was previously only valid for lost messages. Now, all users who have enabled advanced chat privacy will be able to benefit from this media protection. This update is not limited to media access. When advanced chat privacy is activated, the chat histories of these conversations cannot be exported.
This prevents private conversations from being transferred to unauthorized people or platforms. This limitation will create an additional layer of protection, especially in conversations that are sensitive in terms of data security. Thus, it will be possible to protect user data more tightly against external interventions.
However, there will be no technical restrictions on taking screenshots. WhatsApp has not designed a screenshot detection or blocking system for this feature. The reason for this is that users can easily bypass such measures using WhatsApp Web or third-party methods.
