WhatsApp has begun testing a new feature that addresses one of the biggest problems, especially in large group chats. Replies to messages will now be grouped into organized threads below the original message, rather than being lost in the chat flow. This feature will allow users to more easily follow discussions and maintain context.
WhatsApp Group Chats Are Now More Organized
This new system, available to some users with the WhatsApp beta 2.25.25.8 update for Android, automatically creates a thread when a message is replied to. Users can view all relevant replies on a single screen by tapping the new indicator below a message that displays the number of replies.
This feature allows:
- Focused Discussions: All comments on a specific topic will be kept together, preventing the main thread of the chat from becoming cluttered. Easy Follow-Up: The hassle of scrolling through hundreds of messages to follow a discussion will be eliminated. Tapping the relevant thread will display the entire conversation.
- Maintaining Context: Even latecomers to the conversation will be able to easily understand which reply was made to which message, thanks to threads.
- Follow-Up Reply Feature: Users can reply directly not only to the main message but also to a reply within the thread. This will enable layered and in-depth discussions.
This structured chat layout will radically change communication, especially in busy work or friend groups where multiple topics are discussed simultaneously. Users will be able to focus on the topics they are interested in while avoiding the visual clutter created by other messages. This reduces the risk of missing important messages or ideas.
When Will It Be Available?
The feature is currently available for testing by a limited number of Android users who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta from the Google Play Store. The system works even if the sender is using the feature, even if the recipient is not. This is a significant advantage.
The threads feature is expected to be rolled out to more beta users in the coming weeks and then to all WhatsApp users with the stable release.
