WhatsApp is working on a feature that will make it possible to make group video calls in large numbers. Currently, up to 15 people can participate in group calls at a time. With the new feature, this number will double and support up to 32 participants.
WhatsApp group calls will support up to 32 participants
WhatsApp is improving its group calling feature to allow more participants in a single call. The popular messaging app is working on an update that will increase the maximum number of participants in a group call to 32.
When the group calls feature was first announced on WhatsApp, it supported up to 7 people. Then this number increased to 15 and finally it looks like it will increase up to 32. In the latest version of WhatsApp beta for Android, users can now invite up to 32 people to call at once.
This expanded group calling feature is currently being tested by beta users. However, we know that WhatsApp wants to bring it to the stable version in the coming weeks.
WhatsApp is also working on “automatic security code verification” for end-to-end encrypted messages. This feature, which is being tested with select beta users, will make conversations more secure. It will automatically verify security code links without any user input.
WhatsApp has opened the ‘Channels’ feature, which it announced a few months ago, all over the world.
