The countdown has begun for Apple’s next-generation operating systems, unveiled at WWDC 2025 last month. The exact date for the public beta versions, previously slated for release in July, was announced by Mark Gurman, a reliable tech insider. According to Gurman,
Apple plans to release the public beta versions of the following software on Wednesday, July 23rd:
- iOS 26
- iPadOS 26
- macOS 26
- watchOS 26
- tvOS 26
- HomePod update
- AirPods update
The most striking innovation of this year’s updates is undoubtedly the new design philosophy introduced with iOS 26, called Liquid Glass. This interface draws inspiration from the visionOS used in Apple’s Vision Pro. With translucent elements that mimic the refraction and reflection of light, fluid animations, and a layered structure, it aims to offer users a vibrant, fluid glass experience.

How to join the iOS 26 Public Beta program?
Users interested in participating in Apple’s beta testing program simply need to register for free by visiting the Apple Beta Software Program website. However, Apple warns that beta versions are inherently unstable and may cause unexpected issues. Therefore, it is critical to back up all data on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac before installing the update.
Developer beta versions of these updates have already been in testing for some time. While Apple removed the $99 annual fee for accessing developer betas a few years ago, an Apple developer account is still required to try them.
It’s also worth noting that Apple has no plans to release a public beta for VisionOS 26.
