Steam’s latest surveys reveal the most popular Windows versions. As of November, Windows 11 continues to rapidly gain market share among gamers. According to Valve’s new survey, Windows 11 grew by 11 percent compared to the previous month.
What are the most popular Windows versions?
Windows 11 accounts for 42 percent of the market as of November. Windows 10 is still in the lead despite losing points. The Steam survey showed that Windows 10, which dropped 12 points, has a 53 percent share.
The narrowing of the gap between the two Windows versions is actually the result of Microsoft’s concerted efforts. The company is reducing support for the old system, while at the same time inviting users to Windows 11 with much newer features.
The growing popularity of Windows 11 also points to its growing acceptance among gamers. The data shows that Windows 11 will be the most popular operating system starting next year. That’s nearly two years after its release.
- Windows 10: 53.53 percent (-12.05)
- Windows 11: 42.04 percent (+11.51)
- Windows 7 64-bit: 0.69 percent (-0.38)
- Windows 8.1 64-bit: 0.16(+0.03) percent
- Windows 7 32-bit: 0.06 percent (+0.06)
On the other hand, support for older versions of Windows is also ending. Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 will lose access to Steam as of January 1. Legacy systems account for 1.9 percent of the user base, up from 2.2 percent last month.
