Apple introduces new iPad Pro and iPad Air series at the Let Loose event. While it’s exciting to see Apple making great strides in performance and innovation with these new models, it’s disappointing to learn that adapters will be missing from the boxes in some countries. Here are the details…
Apple removes the adapter from new iPads in the UK, Turkey, and other parts of Europe!
Apple’s new iPad Pro and iPad Air models will only come with a USB-C cable in the box in some European countries, including the United Kingdom and Turkey. Previously, these models included an adapter, but the new models no longer have it. Interestingly, iPad Pro and iPad Air models sold outside of the UK and Europe still include the adapter.
This change is being made due to European regulations on “Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment.” So, Apple might be using these regulations as a pretext to remove the adapter from the box, under the guise of “environmental protection,” while actually aiming to cut costs.
Apple has not officially explained this change. However, according to media reports, the removal of adapters is being presented as part of Apple’s sustainability efforts. Apple took a similar step earlier with its iPhone models. However, many users believe that this step might have less to do with protecting the environment and more to do with cutting costs and encouraging users to buy additional accessories.
Previously, when Apple removed the adapters from iPhones, it taught its customers that “environmentally friendly” steps are not necessarily “wallet-friendly.” This change has drawn much criticism in the tech world. While some users see the removal of the adapter as an eco-friendly step, most do not view it as the right decision.
According to many users, adapter-less boxes confront customers with additional costs, further increasing the overall cost of already expensive Apple products. Who knows, maybe one day Apple will remove the iPad from the box and say, “We are protecting the environment,” but until then, it seems users will have to put up with this situation.
While offering innovations with the new iPad models, Apple is also adopting an approach that is both environmentally and user-unfriendly by removing the adapters from the boxes, according to some users. Despite creating controversy among users, this change is being presented as a step toward Apple’s sustainability goals.
