Microsoft focuses on account management with Windows 11. The company, which wants users to use its operating systems with their personal accounts, seems to make it difficult to log out of the account. In this context, some changes were made to the account menu.
It becomes difficult to sign out of Microsoft account in Windows 11
It was stated that in the new build of Windows 11 Insider, the Logout and Switch User buttons in the Start menu have been moved to a new area. Accordingly, it will be necessary to switch to the Account Manager via the Start menu.
Now you need to open a new menu followed by a three-dot button to log out. Account Manager will allow the user to control Microsoft subscriptions, additional services such as Microsoft 365, and account notifications. However, it doesn’t offer an obvious way to log out of the account.
Users think that this change was made intentionally. He stated that Microsoft postponed logging out to show advertisements for its services such as 365. The company says that the new design allows users to “quickly see account benefits.” He also noted that it makes it easier to manage account settings.
Microsoft also started showing ads in the Start menu. The screenshot shared by a Windows 11 user revealed that there was an advertisement for the Opera browser in the “Recommended” section of the Start menu.
Microsoft stated that its aim with these changes was to enable users to discover applications. However, users started to complain about money-making strategies coming to the fore in Windows 11.
