Microsoft has brought an important update to the Snipping Tool so that Windows 11 users can more easily copy text on images. The feature, which is available in the new preview version released as part of the Insider Programme, is already being tested by some users.
Windows 11 finally offers the expected feature
With the new version, a special icon for text extraction is added to the Snipping Tool. Thanks to this icon on the toolbar, users will be able to select and copy text directly on the image without the need to save a screenshot.

In previous public versions, users had to either take a screenshot with the Snipping Tool or open the image in the Photos app and click the text extraction icon. In the new build, users can launch the Snipping Tool directly from the Start Menu or use the Win + Shift + S shortcut to activate the tool, then click the text extraction icon and select the desired area on the image.
After selection, some or all of the text can be copied to the clipboard. In addition, additional options such as removing line breaks and copying all text will be offered to users in the drop-down menu. With this update, Microsoft aims to increase productivity, especially in business and education-oriented usage scenarios.
It has not yet been announced when the new text extraction feature will be added to the general version. This function, which continues to be developed based on feedback, is expected to be integrated into the stable Windows 11 version in the coming months.
