Microsoft no longer shares the number of users of its Windows operating systems. However, third-party analysis companies continue to provide important data on this subject. According to recent reports, while the number of Windows 11 users is increasing rapidly, the market share of Windows 10 has begun to decrease. While Windows 11 has caught up with the old version in some countries, it has even managed to surpass it in some regions. So what are the numbers? Here is the Windows 11 usage rate!
Windows 11 market share is increasing
According to a report by Statcounter, which shares data for technology-related areas, Windows 11 will have the highest market share ever, reaching 38 percent of global Windows users as of February 2025. The operating system, which increased by 1.35 percent in the last month, grew by 9.84 percent compared to the previous year. Although Windows 10 is still the most popular version, its market share fell to 58.83 percent, losing 1.5 points.

The rise of Windows 11 in some countries is even more striking. For example, in Canada, its market share reached 44.46 percent, narrowing the gap with Windows 10 to less than 10 percent. In the United Kingdom, Windows 11 surpassed Windows 10 with 50.41 percent, becoming the most popular Windows version in the country.
On the other hand, Windows 10 and older versions other than 11 are still used, albeit rarely. Windows 7 has a market share of 2.3 percent, Windows 8.1 with 0.31 percent, and Windows XP with 0.29 percent.
With only seven months left until the official end of support for Windows 10, it is expected that users will switch to the new version even faster in the coming months.
