Windows 11 support is coming back to these CPUs!

Microsoft has taken a questionable step and changed the list of processors that support Windows 11. The company, which removed support for 24 Intel processors last August, restored support for these processors without any explanation.

Windows 11 supports 24 Intel Xeon models

Last summer, Microsoft quietly dropped Windows 11 support for some Intel Xeon models. Especially popular 8th generation Xeon E CPUs such as the Xeon E-2136, E-2226G and E-2356G have been the subject of curiosity.

What makes it even stranger is that Microsoft didn’t cut support for 8th generation Intel Core processors. So even though they basically share the same architecture, the Xeon series will not support Windows 11.

Support for 8th generation Xeon processors was reintroduced with the Windows 11 update in October. This means that after a period of several months, official support has been restored. All 24 previously removed models, from the Xeon E-2104G to the E-2388G, are once again compatible with Windows 11.

However, Microsoft has not commented on what prompted the brief change or why the switch back. It is believed that the Xeon CPUs were removed due to a technical glitch and that this bug was resolved by October.
