The long-standing leadership race among Windows operating systems is taking a new turn. The latest data released has revealed that Windows 11 is experiencing a decline in market share. Although Windows 10’s support period is only four months away, many users still prefer to stay with this version.
Windows 11 usage rates have fallen
Windows 11 dropped by 0.5 points from its 43.72 percent usage rate last month to 43.22 percent. During the same period, Windows 10’s usage rate increased by 0.25 percent to 53.19 percent.

This data shows that Microsoft’s efforts to transition users to Windows 11 are not yielding results as quickly as desired. Windows 11, which was launched in the last quarter of 2021, still lags behind its predecessor Windows 10 despite being on the market for more than four years.
The similar resistance experienced during the Windows 7 period is now showing itself for Windows 10. However, this time the picture is not just about habits. Windows 11’s system requirements, especially the TPM 2.0 chip and limited hardware support for certain processors, exclude many older devices from this transition.
In addition to technical obstacles, users’ difficulty adapting to the new interface and system behaviors also slows down the transition process. Windows 10 support will end in October 2025. It is not yet clear how many users will switch to Windows 11 by this date.
The real picture will emerge more clearly in the fall months when Windows 10 support ends. So what do you think about this? You can share your views with us in the comments section below.
