What’s new with the Windows 11 24H2 update? Microsoft is expanding its AI capabilities with many more Copilot features.
What’s new with the Windows 11 24H2 update?
With the 24H2 update, Windows 11 brings significant improvements to the user interface and smartphone connectivity. The taskbar and quick access menu have been redesigned, making it easier to integrate Android and iOS devices with Windows PCs.
The removal of the year from the date display on the taskbar provides a cleaner look. The quick access menu for connecting to Wi-Fi networks and VPNs has also been revamped with more convenient buttons. The ability to drag and drop apps onto the taskbar for quick launching is back.
Smartphone users will be able to integrate their mobile devices with the new sidebar instead of using a separate window. Phone notifications, messages and photos can be accessed directly from the Windows interface. So there’s no need to open a separate app to interact with your phone.
There are also improvements to File Explorer, including the ability to drag and drop files from the address bar, refreshed menus with clearer icons, and the ability to configure mouse scroll direction in settings. VPN setup will also be easier than before.
The lock screen offers more customization options and up-to-date information such as local traffic and financial news. Images on HDR-compatible monitors will become more vibrant with new dynamic wallpapers.
Perhaps the most exciting new feature is the ability to use the phone camera as a webcam. This cross-device compatibility takes the integration of Windows and smartphones even further.
