Steam recently shared the results of its regular hardware and software surveys, which cover the month of August. These surveys provide data on various aspects, including the hardware and operating system versions used by Steam users. So, what are the most popular Windows versions on Steam at the moment?
Most used operating systems – October 2023
In October, Steam revealed the most commonly used operating systems. According to the data, Windows 11, which had significant issues and remained in the spotlight at its initial release, is still not a preferred version among gamers. In fact, last month, it saw a 6.9% decrease in usage, dropping to 30.53%.
Windows 10, on the other hand, claimed the largest share of the pie and saw a noticeable increase last month, with a 7.61% rise, capturing a 65.58% market share. Meanwhile, Windows 7, which once dominated a period but lost update support recently, saw a 0.16% decrease last month and held a 1.07% share.
