Microsoft has added a new AI feature to the Notepad application in Windows 11. With the update, users will be able to summarize the texts they write or edit with AI support.
Windows Notepad will officially get AI support
The new feature has started to be tested with users in the Canary and Dev channels included in the Windows Insider program. After selecting a specific text, users will be able to summarize by right-clicking and using the “Summarize” option or by using the Ctrl + M shortcut.

This feature can also be used via the Copilot menu. The AI will analyze the text and create a short summary, and users will be able to edit the summary according to their own preferences. However, in order to use this feature, they need to sign in with a Microsoft account.
In addition, users will be able to completely disable this AI feature if they wish. The updates made for Notepad will not be limited to AI summarization. Microsoft is also working on a new feature that allows users to quickly view closed files. Thus, users will be able to easily open the documents they recently closed.
Windows’ Snipping Tool has also been updated with a new feature. The feature, called “Draw & Hold,” allows users to automatically edit shapes they draw with a mouse or pen. Thus, users can hold down the cursor for a while while drawing to make the lines smooth.
Microsoft continues to increase AI-powered features in Windows 11. The new AI tools added to Notepad aim to make the text editing process smarter and improve the user experience.
