Microsoft is planning major revisions with the release of the 24H2 version for Windows 11. In addition to the wider deployment of the AI-powered Copilot, old applications are also planned to be removed from the system. Among these is the iconic WordPad application.

Will Windows 10 get Copilot? Microsoft announced

The Copilot update for Windows 11 and 10 is officially rolling out. The company wants to deploy its AI assistant by May.

The Windows 11 24H2 version update is planned to be released in September. With this update, WordPad will be removed from new installations and upgrade processes of the operating system. However, it should be noted that WordPad will still be offered as an option for versions 23H2 or older.

While many old Windows users may be disappointed by the removal of WordPad, most people believe that Microsoft is right in discontinuing support for it. Sources say that WordPad’s time has passed, especially with more advanced free alternatives available.
