While Qualcomm’s latest flagship mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, has already been released, leaks have already tipped the needle towards 2026. According to a reliable industry source, Qualcomm is preparing its next-generation flagship mobile processors, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 6. Here are the details.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 and Elite Gen 6 will be manufactured on a 2nm process
Recent leaks have also revealed the internal model codes of these new Systems-on-Chip (SoCs). The more powerful 8 Elite Gen 6 is codenamed SM8975, and the standard 8 Gen 6 is codenamed SM8950. For comparison, this year’s 8 Elite Gen 5 and 8 Gen 5 models carried the identifiers SM8850 and SM8845, respectively.

Expectations suggest that these new chips will be manufactured on the next technological leap forward, the 2nm process. They will also continue Qualcomm’s new naming strategy for the Snapdragon 8 series.
While the new series is only about a year away, the release of the new series is generating some speculation about the Gen 6 series. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is powered by the third-generation Oryon CPU, and its main core can reach a very high clock speed of 4.6 GHz. The company promises a 20 percent CPU performance increase and up to 35 percent better efficiency compared to the previous generation.
Xiaomi has already released its 17 series phones using the 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. Other major brands like OnePlus, Vivo, iQOO, Oppo, Realme, and Honor are expected to release devices powered by this new silicon in late 2025 and early 2026.
