China-based robotics company Unitree is preparing to broadcast the world’s first robot boxing match live. Announced with a promotional video titled “Unitree Iron Fist King: Awakening!”, the event will feature the company’s humanoid robot models in the ring. This development was recorded as a striking example showing the point where robot technology has reached.
Robots are preparing for a boxing match
It is not yet clear which robot model will be used at the event. However, the company’s G1 and H1 robot models were featured in the promotional video. The 1.32 meter tall G1 model draws attention with its high mobility and artificial intelligence-supported control system.
In G1’s performance in the promotional video, it is seen that it loses its balance against a human opponent but recovers quickly. Although the robot’s agility still lags behind a human, it can detect and react to incoming attacks thanks to its advanced sensors.
In the same video, a demonstration fight between two robots is a pre-match rehearsal. The robots are seen not only punching but also kicking. The company’s 1.8-meter-tall H1 model is Unitree’s flagship with its larger structure, advanced processing power and human-like mobility.
No clear date has been announced as to when the match will take place. But the event will reportedly take place within a month. The challenge is planned to be broadcast live on Unitree’s own platforms.
The company is preparing to show the world the state of the art in robotics with a real-time fight. So what do you think about this issue? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
