Last week, Elon Musk announced a sudden decision to change the name of the Twitter application, and he has since accelerated the development of the new platform. The new platform, known as “X,” is said to be centered around audio, video, messaging, and payments/banking. The Android Beta version of the X platform has been released, and here are the details…
X Android Beta version has been released
The X Android Beta version is now available for users participating in the Twitter Beta program, labeled as version 10.0.0-beta.0. The familiar blue bird icon of Twitter has been replaced with a white “X” on a black background, which will also serve as the status bar icon for some notifications.
Currently, the Android application is still referred to as “Twitter Beta.” However, an investigation by Dylan Roussel on the APK suggests that once this change becomes official, the launcher name will be simply “X.”
Although the Play Store listing has not been updated yet, the upcoming change will bring “X” to the end of your application guide. It’s worth noting that X will adopt a Dynamic Color theme for its icon.
Within the application, the main feed on the app bar now displays the X icon instead of Twitter’s old symbol. Additionally, Twitter Blue has been rebranded as simply “Blue.”
It’s important to mention that the package name of the application remains com.twitter.android. Given that a new application and listing would be required for a complete change, this seems less likely to happen, as developers usually try to avoid forcing people to download something entirely new during a transition.
Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino describes the X platform as the “app for everything” and indicates that it will also have AI-powered features.
