Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) came to the fore with a major access problem on the afternoon of July 2, 2025. According to Downdetector data, there was a sudden explosion in user complaints as of 16:00, and the number of people reporting outages exceeded 500.

The outages were felt not only in Turkey but also around the world. Users reported having problems logging into the application, not being able to tweet, or their timeline not refreshing. The cause of the problem has not yet been officially announced.
