Elon Musk bought X (formerly Twitter) for $44 million about 2 years ago, in October 2022. Musk started by cleaning up bot accounts and changed the name of the company and the app to X on July 23, 2023. For the first time since Musk’s acquisition, the company published a transparency report on the platform.
Approximately 5 million accounts suspended since 2021
When Elon Musk bought the platform, the company’s shares lost almost half of their value due to events such as late purchases. After the acquisition, Elon Musk announced that they would remove bot accounts, which make up about 30% of X (Twitter) users. Nearly two years after Musk’s acquisition, the company released the platform’s transparency reports.
According to transparency reports, X (Twitter) authorities appear to have suspended a total of five million X (Twitter) accounts. The result is not limited to accounts; since Elon Musk took over the company, the authorities have removed 10.6 million unlawful posts.
The latest transparency report is much shorter than the previous ones. The previous report was published in 15 pages. Although Musk says that we have removed censorship from the platform, some users think that Elon Musk still continues to censor some content.
