Elon Musk’s AI initiative X.ai introduces the Grok-1.5 update, enhancing X’s Grok chatbot with a new generative AI model. This upcoming update is particularly notable for its advanced reasoning capabilities in coding and mathematical tasks.
Introducing X’s Grok-1.5 update
The Grok-1.5 upgrade offers substantial advancements over its predecessor. It doubles Grok-1’s score in the popular MATH metric and shows a significant over ten-point improvement in the HumanEval test, which measures the ability to create programming languages and solve problems.
The new model can process contexts up to 128,000 tokens. This means it can extract information from longer documents and handle more complex commands. X.ai’s Grok models, unlike other generative AI models, respond to questions on topics typically excluded by others, such as conspiracy theories and controversial political ideas.
It can also use explicit language when requested. Grok-1.5 is soon to be accessible for early testers on X and will come with several new features. Musk hinted at working on features like summarizing conversation threads and suggesting post content.
While X.ai made Grok-1 open source, they didn’t provide the codes necessary for fine-tuning or further training the model. The announcement of Grok-1.5 follows X.ai making Grok-1 open source but, similar to the previous release, it does not include the codes needed for fine-tuning or additional training.
Recently, Musk stated that more users on X’s $8 monthly Premium plan could access the Grok chatbot, which was previously only available to $16 monthly Premium+ customers. What do you think about X’s Grok-1.5 update? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.
