Microsoft has been continuously improving the Xbox app on PC lately. The latest update (version 2501.1001.3.0) comes with a series of new features and bug fixes. This is great news for Windows users, as some issues had emerged following the major overhaul of the app. This update will resolve some of those frustrating problems. Here are the details…
The Xbox app on PC has been revamped: Here’s everything new in the latest update
Before diving into the details of the update, let’s take a look at all the new features introduced at last week’s Xbox Developer Direct event:

1. Sharing game sessions
One of the most notable additions from the event is the ability to share summaries of game sessions. Now, by clicking on the “last session” section on a game’s page, you can view details of your most recent match. With a single click, you can turn this information into an image, copy it to your clipboard, and share it on social media or with friends.
2. System tray integration
Another user-friendly enhancement is the integration of recently played games into the system tray. Now, when you right-click the Xbox App icon, you can see your most recently played games and quickly launch them without opening the app.

3. Enhanced UI customization
Microsoft has updated the styling and sizes of social widgets and the home bar, providing a more advanced personalization experience in both Desktop and Compact modes.
4. Easier access to cloud gaming
When selecting a console game with cloud support from the Xbox App on PC, you’ll now be directly redirected to the store page. This makes it even easier to purchase, remotely download, or launch the game via the cloud.
Bug Fixes
The update also includes a series of bug fixes. Here’s the full list:
- Countdown for upcoming games: Some games were not displaying a countdown timer in the store or Game Pass library—this issue has been fixed.
- Wishlist issue: A problem preventing DLC packs from being added to the wishlist has been resolved.
- Reward page navigation: The issue where clicking the “Back” button on the rewards page redirected users to the wrong page has been fixed.
- System tray menu: A bug causing two menus to appear simultaneously in the system tray has been addressed.
- Friend requests: Incoming friend requests appearing as “Unknown User” have been corrected.
- Compact mode navigation: A problem where clicking a friend request in Compact mode did not lead to the correct page has been fixed.
- Chat window: An issue where buttons overlapped in one-on-one chats has been resolved.
- Notification center: Clicking on targets in the notification center now properly redirects users to the store page.
- Party chat: The issue where the “Block” option appeared twice in the quick actions menu of party chat has been fixed.
- “Play Later” option: The “Play Later” option was missing for some games in the store—this issue has been corrected.
