Microsoft has announced that it has postponed the release date of Avowed, which will be exclusive to the Xbox console. The Avowed release date was originally planned for 2024, but expectations increased when developer Obsidian accidentally confirmed the November 12 date in a blog post. Now, with a statement from Xbox’s official X account, the game’s new release date has been set for 2025.
Avowed release date delayed to 2025!
In a message published on Xbox’s official X account, Microsoft stated that they postponed Avowed’s release date to February 18, 2025. “Stay tuned for more games from Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda and Xbox Game Studios at Gamescom. More information on Avowed will be shared in a live stream on August 23rd.”
With this delay, there are only a few Xbox console exclusives scheduled for release towards the end of 2024. Age of Mythology Retold will be released on September 4, while Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will be released on November 19. Towerborne and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle have yet to be announced.
Avowed is a first-person fantasy action RPG first announced by Obsidian in July 2020. The game is set in the world of Eora, introduced in Obsidian’s Pillars of Eternity series. Avowed director Carrie Patel said the game will be similar in length and scope to Obsidian’s previous game, The Outer Worlds. “Players can expect a similar experience to The Outer Worlds, depending on the level of difficulty, the intensity of exploration, and how faithful they are to the main quest path,” Patel said.
Given Obsidian’s previous games, Avowed is expected to stand out for its deep storytelling, complex character development and rich game world.
The new release date for Avowed, February 18, 2025, will be the day this highly anticipated game will finally be released. In the meantime, Xbox and Obsidian are focusing on improving the quality of the game, aiming to deliver an unforgettable experience for players.
