Microsoft Xbox’s Sea of Thieves is a huge success on PS5 consoles: Sales top 1 million
Sea of Thieves has been doing quite well since its release on Sony PS5 consoles in late April. While Xbox has yet to officially announce these sales figures, it’s clear that the game has been a strong seller with an average price tag of $40.
Sony even reported Sea of Thieves as one of the most downloaded PS5 games in the US, Canada and Europe in May. It was also in the top five in June and remained in the top ten in July.
Sea of Thieves was first released on Xbox One and PC platforms in March 2018. Before the PS5 release, Rare announced that the game had been played by more than 40 million players. Also, Xbox announced this week that Indiana Jones, developed by MachineGames, is coming to PS5 in early 2025.
This game will be released first on Xbox and PC platforms in December. Phil Spencer, Microsoft’s head of gaming, says the strategy of bringing Xbox games to other consoles makes good business sense.
