Microsoft has taken a significant step to make life easier for PC gamers. The company is adding third-party store and app support to the Xbox PC app. This new feature allows users to access games downloaded from platforms like Steam, Battle.net, Ubisoft Connect, and GOG Galaxy from a single location.
Xbox is unifying PC platforms
The company is testing a feature it calls “My Apps.” With the new system, users can run not only Microsoft Store games but also games and various other software downloaded from competing stores through the Xbox interface.

Games downloaded from Steam or Epic Games are added to the “My Library” tab in the Xbox app. Even installed apps like Chrome can be launched from there.
Microsoft Xbox product manager Devin Dhaliwal states that this integration will allow players to access their content across platforms faster. This development is particularly convenient for gamers using Windows-based portable gaming devices. Players can access all their games from a single location without having to worry about the Windows desktop.
While the system, currently in beta, has some shortcomings, Microsoft plans to add support for more stores and tools in the future. This move will transform the Xbox app into a fully integrated gaming platform on Windows, similar to SteamOS.
