Xiaomi may have accidentally spoiled its own surprise. A new profile picture on the company’s Weibo account briefly revealed what looks like the back of the upcoming Xiaomi 17 Pro.
Xiaomi 17 Pro shows off secondary rear screen

Weibo users were quick to spot the leak. For a short time, Xiaomi’s account displayed a profile photo showing an unreleased device. The design lines up with recent spy shots suggesting the Xiaomi 17 Pro could revive the rear display idea from the Mi 11 Ultra.
This time, though, the display appears larger and more integrated. It wraps into the camera module and might support full-screen app functionality, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 outer screen.
Triple camera setup confirmed in new design
Based on the leaked image, here’s how the camera layout appears:
- Two cameras are built into the rear screen island
- A third sensor positioned below the module
- The flash module sits beside the lower camera
It’s a clean but aggressive layout, clearly aimed at standing out in a crowded flagship field.
Xiaomi 17 Pro may not be alone in this redesign
There’s still some uncertainty. While the image may show the Pro model, it’s possible that the full redesign, particularly the rear display, is exclusive to the rumored Xiaomi 17 Pro Max.
That would leave the base and standard Pro versions with more conventional rear panels. Xiaomi hasn’t officially clarified the model differences yet.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 inside the Xiaomi 17 Pro
Xiaomi is expected to debut Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in this lineup. That makes the Xiaomi 17 series the likely launch vehicle for the chip.
Official reveal could be just around the corner
With a public-facing leak already in the wild, Xiaomi’s announcement probably isn’t far behind. For now, it is shaping up to be more than just a spec bump; it might bring the rear display trend back to life.
