The Xiaomi 17 Ultra, one of the most eagerly anticipated smartphone models in the world, is preparing to make a big splash in the European market. The Chinese tech manufacturer’s new flagship may launch with a special version that will excite photography enthusiasts, in addition to the standard model.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is being designed specifically for Europe
According to the latest industry information, Xiaomi is preparing to unveil its new series very soon. The device, expected to go on pre-order in the Chinese market on December 15th, will be available globally and in Europe shortly thereafter. However, the main topic of discussion in tech circles is the special version coming to Europe.

According to records uncovered in the IMEI database, the phone has two different model numbers. The first is the standard model, while the second, with an “S” suffix, is believed to represent the “Special” version. The listings clearly state that this device is “Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi.” This suggests that the brand’s collaboration with Leica will not be limited to lens technology but will also be reflected in the design.
This special edition is expected to share the same technical specifications as the standard Xiaomi 17 Ultra, but differ in design and box content. It’s highly likely that the phone will come with a special kit and accessories that will elevate the photography experience.
The new model’s design details suggest it will retain Xiaomi’s signature round camera island design. However, the quad rear camera setup seen in previous models will reportedly be replaced by a triple system. While the number of lenses has decreased, the size and quality of the sensors used have been increased.
According to leaked information, the camera sensors expected to be included in the device are:
- Main Camera: 50MP OVX10500U
- Telephoto: 200MP S5KHPE
- Ultra Wide Angle: 50MP OV50M or S5KJN5
- Front Camera: 50MP OV50M
Further information suggests that the company aims to improve light transmittance and image quality by using a new Leica coating on the lenses.
