Xiaomi is preparing to make a name for itself not only with its smartphones but also with its hardware production. According to the latest leaks, Xiaomi’s self-developed 3 nm smartphone processor (SoC) has successfully passed the production stage and is expected to enter mass production soon. Here are the details…
Xiaomi’s 3nm processor is off the production line!
In the first leaks, it was stated that the new chip could be compared to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in terms of performance. However, in later news, it was said that the chip will be produced with TSMC’s 3 nm process technology. It is said that the chip will work more efficiently and will provide advantages especially in terms of energy consumption.
3 nm technology offers higher performance by using smaller sized transistors, while at the same time reducing energy consumption. In other words, the devices are both more powerful and have longer battery life.
However, it is stated that this new chip can be used not only in flagship phones, but also in Xiaomi’s mid-range phones or tablets. In high-end models, cooperation with major chip manufacturers such as Qualcomm may continue, but Xiaomi’s own chips will be used in devices that appeal to a wider audience.
The technical details of the chip are still unclear, but more information about the CPU and GPU structure is expected to be announced closer to the launch of the devices. In addition, Xiaomi’s new chip will use a 5G modem provided by UNISOC. This modem may be slightly inferior in terms of performance compared to the top-end modems on the market, but what Xiaomi aims with this chip is to provide a good price/performance balance.
