Xiaomi officially announced the highly anticipated HyperOS 3 update, its new operating system interface, at a major event held in China today. Featuring performance improvements, innovative AI-focused features, a completely revamped visual design, and a new level of cross-device integration, HyperOS 3 ushers in a new era for the Xiaomi ecosystem. At the event, the release schedule for the update was also shared, along with all the new features introduced by the new software.
HyperOS 3 Powers Up
HyperOS 3 builds on the highly acclaimed HyperCore technology introduced last year. Thanks to these optimizations, the new version reduces CPU load by 4% compared to the previous generation while improving energy efficiency by 10%. This translates to longer battery life and a cooler-running device for users.

There are also improvements that will particularly appeal to mobile gamers. Thanks to a full-featured graphics timing link and on-the-fly switching timing mechanism, frame drop rates in games have been reduced by 18.9%. A 21% improvement in app launch speeds is also promised. There’s also a 10% improvement in video playback performance and a 9% improvement in touch response latency. Xiaomi aims to offer a much smoother and more fluid user experience by optimizing over 100 system animations.
The most striking aspect of the new version is the deeply integrated artificial intelligence features. The “Super XiaoAi Assistant” now has an awareness that can instantly analyze on-screen content. This allows you to directly ask the assistant questions about a product, text, or image you see on the screen.
In addition, HyperOS 3 introduces an innovation similar to Google’s Circle to Search feature. Users can now instantly trigger actions such as searching, translating, or sharing by circling any content (text, image, etc.) on the screen.
HyperOS 3 also brings significant visual innovations. Working with a similar logic to Apple’s Dynamic Island, Xiaomi Super Island allows you to monitor multiple live activities and notifications from a single dynamic hub. This feature will initially support over 70 integrated services.

Additionally, AI-powered dynamic wallpapers with depth effects, redesigned modern icons, and cinematic lock screens enhance the interface. The Photo Album app gains features like smart search and automatically creating albums for your pets.
Xiaomi continues to break down the barriers between different devices. With HyperOS 3, Xiaomi phone users will now be able to open up to three mobile app windows simultaneously on their Mac computers. The phone can be unlocked using a Mac’s Touch ID or Face ID. It’s even possible to seamlessly share files and view photos with an iPhone.
On the privacy front, important security measures have been added, including two-factor authentication for multi-device account login, enhanced data protection, and the ability to locate lost devices even when they’re turned off.
Xiaomi will begin releasing the beta version of HyperOS 3 to users in China starting August 29th. It’s important to note that this shared schedule is intended as a beta roadmap for China only. Dates for global markets will be announced later.
