It turns out that tests for Xiaomi’s second electric car, the YU7 SUV, continue unabated. The company was unable to prevent the leak of the first spy photos of the entry-level version of the model during tests in China.

Images from China reveal the prototype Xiaomi is using in the testing process, labeled “029” on the front door. One of the most striking details is the absence of any LiDAR sensor in this model. This means that the standard version of the YU7 will have a camera-based intelligent driving system.

In terms of exterior design, the entry-level YU7 looks similar to the higher-equipped variants. Particularly striking are the brand’s signature cross-shaped driving lights integrated into the headlamp section.

At the rear of the vehicle, just like the SU7 model, there are thin LED taillights running the length of the vehicle. According to previously shared technical information, the YU7 will be a 4999mm long, 1996mm wide and 1600mm high SUV with a 3000mm wheelbase.

The standard YU7 is likely to be powered by a 288kW rear-wheel drive electric motor. The battery pack will include lithium iron phosphate batteries from BYD and CATL, which are expected to be used in the twin-engine and all-wheel drive versions.
