The Xiaomi SU7, which has achieved great success in China, was recently spotted speeding on Germany’s Nürburgring track, known as the ‘Green Hell.’ So, what are their goals? Are they aiming to break speed records on this German track?
Xiaomi SU7 spotted speeding on the Nürburgring track
The Xiaomi SU7 was caught by spy photographers while speeding on the Nürburgring track, and it appears to be equipped with a special aerodynamic kit for the track. The vehicle features a large fixed spoiler at the rear and a notable splitter on the front bumper.
This suggests that the Xiaomi SU7 model may have been transformed into a performance-oriented beast. So, what is the goal? According to rumors, they might be aiming to beat the Nürburgring track record set by the Porsche Taycan. But can a standard electric vehicle compete with racing cars?
If Xiaomi SU7 aims to set a record like the Porsche Taycan, aerodynamic improvements alone may not be enough; they will need more power. As you know, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT boasts 815 kW (1,108 horsepower) and completed the Nürburgring (Nordschleife) track in 7:07.55. Currently, the most powerful version of the Xiaomi SU7 offers 495 kW (673 horsepower). This means Xiaomi will need to develop a more powerful engine for this competition.
Unfortunately, the spy photos do not clearly show the interior of the SU7. However, we will have to wait a little longer to see if any changes have been made for weight reduction. Perhaps Xiaomi has taken some radical steps to lighten the interior.
We are genuinely curious about what Xiaomi will do with the SU7 model. It seems poised to attract significant interest not only in China but worldwide. The Nürburgring performance is eagerly anticipated. What do you think? Can the Xiaomi SU7 compete with powerful rivals? Share your thoughts in the comments section below…
