Lei Jun, the CEO and founder of Xiaomi, officially announced in a recent post on Weibo that the Xiaomi 15 series will be sold with a default RAM of 12 GB. This means the 8 GB RAM option from last year’s model has been discontinued.
Additionally, Jun revealed the internal storage options for the Xiaomi 15. According to him, the device will be available in 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB storage configurations, offering the same options as the Xiaomi 14 series.
New Details on Xiaomi 15
As known, the Xiaomi 14 series was launched with options starting at 8 GB of RAM, along with variants featuring 12 GB and 16 GB of RAM. The 12 GB RAM version of the Xiaomi 15 is expected to be the base model, suggesting that a 16 GB RAM variant may also be available.
This increase in RAM is necessary for the new generation of smartphones to run the key AI features of HyperOS 2.0 natively. Moreover, Jun reiterated that the Xiaomi 15 series will be more expensive than its predecessors, likely due to the high cost of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
Another important point mentioned by Jun is the presence of customized M9 light-emitting materials on a BOE display with a resolution ranging from 1.5K to 2K. Lastly, he stated that Xiaomi will unveil 16 new products at the event scheduled for tomorrow, making the conference expected to last over three hours.
