Xiaomi has begun testing a performance-focused version of its YU7 SUV at the Nürburgring. This model, spotted in China in July and since called the YU7 Ultra, is rumored to actually be called the YU7 GT. If true, Xiaomi could be starting a new tradition by choosing the GT name after the SU7 Ultra, the performance version of its SU7 sedan. Here are the details.
Xiaomi YU7 GT Spied Testing at the Nürburgring
Regardless of its name, this new performance SUV is expected to feature the same powertrain as the SU7 Ultra, producing 1,548 horsepower and 1,770 Nm of torque. Furthermore, details such as 21-inch wheels, a wider track, and six-piston yellow brake calipers appear to be inherited from the SU7 Ultra.

The design is remarkably simple for such a powerful vehicle. Small but significant changes have been made compared to the standard YU7. Based on the camouflaged prototypes, the fenders have been widened, the roof spoiler has been extended, and the lower bumper features larger air vents.
Rumors suggest the YU7 GT will be announced before the end of the year, with deliveries starting in the second quarter of next year. This vehicle is undoubtedly poised to become the fastest SUV in history. It’s speculated that Xiaomi will officially test the YU7 GT on the track after the SU7 Ultra broke the Nürburgring record, setting a new SUV record.
In case you weren’t aware, the SU7 Ultra achieved the title of fastest production electric vehicle ever at the Nürburgring in June. This proves Xiaomi’s commitment to performance. Do you think the YU7 GT could set a new record at the Nürburgring? Share your thoughts in the comments.
