NASA shares its missions with space enthusiasts around the world. The space agency especially wants to communicate with the younger generation who are interested in science issues. For this reason, NASA takes tens of thousands of space enthusiasts into space to introduce them to the mystery of the universe. Even though it is not actually happening, you can send a name to the Moon trip. Here are the details…
You too can sign up for the Moon journey with NASA!
NASA has restarted Lunar Missions after a long break. The space agency also has a surprise for space enthusiasts. It gives you the opportunity to accompany this historical journey. Of course, you don’t need to be an astronaut for this. NASA will take your names on a Moon trip, even if it’s not actually happening.
You can send your name to the Moon with NASA’s VIPER mission. The VIPER mission includes the space agency’s first robotic lunar rover. NASA will launch the VIPER (Volatiles Exploring Polar Exploration Rover) later this year. This will see the first robotic lunar rover explore the Moon’s south pole.
The Moon’s south pole attracts great attention from scientists investigating the presence of water ice. The first robotic lunar rover will explore some permanently shadowed areas. The presence of water ice on the Moon is very important for scientists. Because this important resource could eventually be harvested to continue human exploration on the Moon and also on Mars. It could even be processed to produce fuel to power rockets launched from our nearest neighbour.
The VIPER mission is expected to last 100 days. During this time, the robotic rover will travel several miles over the crater rims. It will then head towards permanently shadowed craters. It will also sample different types of lunar soils and environments.
So far, more than 13,000 people have signed up to send their name to the Moon. If you want to send your name to the Moon with NASA’s VIPER mission, the steps you need to take are quite simple. You can follow the steps below.
- Go to NASA’s website.
- Mark the launch of the VIPER mission, scheduled for November 2024
- All you need to do is enter your name and PIN code on the boarding pass for the launch of the VIPER Mission.
