Elon Musk has said many times before that he wants to make Twitter an “everything app”. Within the scope of this goal, it is aimed to bring many features to the platform and users will benefit from these features according to their needs. Finally, it was announced that Twitter is developing a job search feature to rival LinkedIn.
Twitter to rival LinkedIn with job posting feature
Twitter has launched a new job posting feature called ‘Hiring’, which allows companies to post open positions directly on the platform. With this move, Elon Musk seems to want to challenge the professional job site LinkedIn.
Hiring, currently in testing with select companies, will automatically list job openings. In this way, companies will be able to find their new employees among Twitter’s more than 300 million monthly users. Applications will be made through the business site. So Twitter will only be an intermediary for job postings.
Unlike LinkedIn, Hiring is only available to Twitter Blue subscribers. Companies have to pay to get beta access. Considering that LinkedIn allows free job postings, this limits the expansion of the new feature.
Musk has faced many challenges to increase the platform’s revenues. The Hiring feature seems to represent Musk’s attempt to create new sources of revenue despite the turmoil at the company.
Considering that LinkedIn is the social media of the business world, it remains to be seen how effective Twitter will be in this area. The new feature is expected to be available to all users in the coming months.
