Over the last few months, YouTube has been cracking down on ad blockers. Last year, the platform started displaying a message asking users to disable their ad blockers. If this message was ignored, videos were blocked from playing. This prompted many users to uninstall their ad blockers or look for new solutions. However, YouTube seems determined that new sanctions are coming.
YouTube abruptly skips videos from ad blockers to the end
This week, many users have noticed that YouTube videos suddenly jump to the end. Videos skip to the end almost immediately, even when played from the beginning. This strange phenomenon seems to only affect users who use ad blockers. When the ad blocker is disabled, videos play normally.
Users also report that when they replay a video or try to skip to a specific part, the video sometimes goes into an endless loading loop. This has a negative impact on users’ video viewing experience.
Many users believe that this is a deliberate move by YouTube to discourage the use of ad blockers. This is certainly possible, but it’s also possible that the problem is the ad blocker itself.
Earlier this year, a bug in AdBlock caused videos to load slowly and put undue stress on the machines running YouTube. When this problem was discovered, many users blamed YouTube.
Regarding this latest problem, it seems to be more prevalent among those using AdBlock, while those using other ad blockers have not encountered the problem. However, there are a few reports that non-ad blockers are also experiencing this problem, albeit very rarely.
