YouTube has been improving its system and adding many new features to the video platform in the last few years in the Shorts category or for creators. With the recent announcement, YouTube launches the YouTube Player for Education, which will help the vast educational sector. The new education update will only be available in the US and Korea. Here are the details about YouTube Player for Education.
Education courses on YouTube
YouTube Player for Education is an embedded player that shows content on popular education apps without ads, external links, or recommendations. With the new product, YouTube will allow users to improve their learning and go deeper into subjects they are passionate about. It will also allow creators to present their teaching content.
YouTube is partnering with significant tech companies in the US, like EDpuzzle, Purdue University, and Purdue Global. This player will also change and improve the existing YouTube embedded player in Google Classroom for a better player experience.
On the blog, the company announced, “To improve the YouTube experience in educational environments, we’re launching YouTube Player for Education – a new YouTube embedded player that shows content on commonly used education apps without distractions like adds, external links, or recommendations.”
The streaming video platform also launched new tools to help increase revenue with the ad-free model. From next year, creators will be able to release paid video courses similarly to platforms like Skillshare, Udemy, and more. You will have access to watch ad-free, and in the background when you pay for a course.
The company announced the new feature, “Next year, qualified creators can begin offering free or paid Courses to provide in-depth, structured learning experiences for viewers. Viewers who choose to buy a Course can watch the video ad-free and play it in the background. Courses will arrive first in the United States and South Korea in beta before expanding to more countries.”
