Google is testing a brand new feature for the YouTube Music app to improve music accessibility worldwide. This innovative tool will translate the lyrics of songs being streamed in real time, allowing users to easily follow content even in languages they don’t understand.
YouTube Music Will Instantly Translate Lyrics
It’s well known that the lyrics features offered by music services are inadequate, especially when listening to foreign-language songs and not understanding the lyrics. While users typically have to painstakingly copy the lyrics and use an external translation tool, YouTube Music aims to eliminate this process.

This new translation tool can be activated by adding a “Translate” option to the lyrics display interface. When the user activates this option, the translated text will automatically appear directly below the original lyrics.
However, there’s an important detail about this translation feature: The translation cannot be translated into any language the user chooses. The system will translate directly according to the system language specified in the user’s device settings. Those who wish to see a translation in a different language will need to adjust the language settings on their device’s app.
This feature, currently in testing with Premium subscribers, will work with a machine translation engine. This innovation is expected to be available exclusively to YouTube Music Premium users in the future. This move is seen as a significant step toward significantly improving the global music listening experience and eliminating language barriers.
