YouTube is preparing to add a new one to its Premium subscription options. This new plan called “Duo” will allow two people to benefit from the same Premium benefits. The platform, which has experienced a decrease in the number of users after the price increases experienced in the past period, aims to offer a more economical solution with its new model.

The new Duo membership is currently being tested in India, France, Taiwan and Hong Kong. All Premium features such as ad-free video watching, background playback and offline downloading continue to be offered with the Duo subscription. In this respect, Duo differs from the previously announced Premium Lite membership with limited features.
The price of the Duo subscription in India has been determined as approximately $ 2.5. This price stands out as a very economical alternative for two people. When the fee is divided in half, the cost per person falls below the individual package.
The target audience of this membership is defined as roommates, couples or users living together. Since each user logs in with their own account, personal recommendations, viewing history and playlists can be kept separate. This ensures that the personal experience is not compromised despite shared use.
Users are turning to subscription options that suit different lifestyles and sharing styles, paving the way for more customized plans on digital platforms. However, so far, YouTube has not made an official statement on when this subscription will be available globally.
