Most notably, YouTube is partnering with Shopify to allow creators and merchants to feature their products on their channels. Eligible creators can now link their Shopify store to their YouTube channel.
According to David Katz, creators can now connect their Shopify store to their YouTube channel in just a few steps. To become an eligible creator, you must meet specific requirements. These conditions are:
- Have at least 10,000 subscribers or an official artist channel
- Being an open channel for monetization
- Focus on non-child content
- Have a flawless record of policy violations
With this new feature, users no longer need to leave the video to complete a purchase. At the same time, instant tags can be used in live broadcasts. YouTube creators will also use the advantage of real-time inventory syncing capability, designed to eliminate the possibility of product out-of-stock. Shopify pricing plans are $29 per year for a basic commerce package.
Shop in Explore tab on YouTube
The feature will be active for US, India, and Brazil users, allowing viewers to search for videos based on products that interest them. In addition, YouTube plans to expand this feature to more regions during the year.
Lastly, the company is introducing new tools within YouTube Studio’s “Shopping” tab so that creators can easily manage how their products are tagged and appear across their channels. The company says it’s aware that creators spend a lot of time developing their products, so it wants to make it easier for them to manage their stores on YouTube and bring their products directly to their audience through these new tools.
