Samsung’s highly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event will begin on July 9 at 17:00 Turkish time. The event, which the company positions as one of the biggest launches of the year, will introduce new foldable phones, redesigned wearables, and the final version of One UI 8 based on Android 16.
Galaxy Unpacked event is approaching
As always, the focus of the event is the new generation models of the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip series. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 comes as the thinnest book-style foldable phone ever produced. The device, which is 8.9 mm thick when folded and only 4.2 mm thick when opened, has a larger cover screen than its predecessor. The main camera module stands out with its 200 MP resolution.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 comes with two major changes compared to the previous model. The cover screen has grown to almost cover the upper half of the device and has been redesigned to include the camera module. This new screen, which is approximately 4 inches in size, aims to increase usability. The Flip 7 also carries a larger battery with a capacity of 4,300 mAh.
On the hardware side, the device is powered by Samsung’s recently announced Exynos 2500 chip. Although its design has been slightly tweaked, it does not offer as much of a difference as the difference between the Fold 6 and Fold 7.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE model will also be introduced as a more affordable alternative. This device, which will join the Fan Edition series, has largely the same design and technical features as last year’s Flip 6. It is powered by the Exynos 2400 processor used in the Galaxy S24 series last year. With this model, which is expected to be positioned in the affordable segment, Samsung aims to expand its reach in the foldable phone market.
The event will feature not only phones but also notable innovations on the wearable technology side. Samsung is updating the Galaxy Watch 8 series with three different models this year: the Galaxy Watch 8, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and the new color option of the Galaxy Watch Ultra, which was introduced last year.
The physical rotating bezel returns with the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic model. This design maintains the classic form that Galaxy Watch users have long preferred, while also carrying innovations such as the angular case structure and action button introduced with the Watch Ultra.
All models work with the Exynos W1000 chip used in the Watch 7 and Watch Ultra last year. There is no significant change in battery capacities. However, Samsung highlights this series with the new health and tracking features it offers on the software side.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 model will not be introduced. Samsung will only announce the new color options of the current model and will not make any changes to the pricing. In contrast, the Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic models will be sold at a price approximately $50 higher than their predecessors.
On the software side, the distribution of the Android 16-based One UI 8 version is starting. Samsung started the beta program in May and has only released two beta versions for the Galaxy S25 series to date. The Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7 and Z Flip 7 FE models will be released directly with One UI 8. The update is expected to be gradually offered to other compatible devices after the event.
With this event, Samsung will have carried out a comprehensive product update aimed at both maintaining its leadership in the foldable phone segment and expanding its user base in wearable devices.
