The Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), the umbrella organization of the Turkish automotive industry with its 13 members, announced production, export volumes, and market data for the January-August period of 2025. Accordingly, in the first eight months of the year, total automotive production increased by 4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 908,238 units. Car production decreased by 1 percent to 564,482 units. Including tractor production, total production reached 928,081 units. In the first eight months of the year, production in the commercial vehicle group increased by 13 percent and in the light commercial vehicle group by 15 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while the heavy commercial vehicle group decreased by 6 percent. During this period, the automotive industry’s capacity utilization rate was 64 percent. By vehicle group, capacity utilization rates were 65 percent for light vehicles (cars + light commercial vehicles), 54 percent for trucks, 64 percent for buses and midibuses, and 40 percent for tractors.
Exports increased by 12% in the first eight months, exceeding $26 billion!
In the first eight months of the year, automotive exports increased by 7% compared to the same period last year, reaching 682,743 units. During this period, automobile exports decreased by 6% compared to the same period the previous year, while commercial vehicle exports increased by 29%. Tractor exports also decreased by 30% compared to the same period in 2024, reaching 7,218 units. According to data from the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly, total automotive industry exports maintained their leadership position in the sectoral export rankings with a 17% increase in the first eight months of 2025. According to data from the Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OİB), total automotive exports reached $26.1 billion in the first eight months. During the same period, automobile exports increased by 11%, reaching $7.5 billion. During this period, main industry exports increased by 16 percent in dollar terms, while supplier industry exports increased by 7 percent.

Total market reached 844,761 units in the first eight months!
In the first eight months of 2025, the total market increased by 7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 844,761 units. During this period, the automobile market also increased by 8 percent, reaching 654,413 units. Looking at the commercial vehicle market, in the first eight months of the year, the total commercial vehicle market grew by 2 percent and the light commercial vehicle market by 4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while the heavy commercial vehicle market experienced a 10 percent decline. The share of domestically produced vehicles in automobile sales remained at 29 percent in the same period of 2025, as it did in the January-August period of 2024. However, it is noted that the share of domestically produced vehicles in automobile sales, which hovered around 40-41 percent between 2019 and 2021, has shown a gradual decline in recent years. The share of domestic vehicles in light commercial vehicle sales was 20% in the January-August period of 2025, while this rate was 30% in the same period of 2024.
