ZTE’s Nubia brand continues to introduce gaming-focused models to users, and the Red Magic 9 Pro series, which attracted attention with its technical specifications and unique design, was recently unveiled by the Chinese brand. Here are the features of the Red Magic 9 Pro and Pro+!
Red Magic 9 Pro specs
The Red Magic 9 Pro and Pro+ models have similar technical specifications with a few differences. There is no difference in their designs either. One notable detail is that the devices do not have a camera bump on the back; instead, a flat panel greets users. Additionally, the sleek patterns and logos on the back indicate that this is a gaming phone in the series.
Powering the smartphones is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. Qualcomm continues its collaboration with TSMC for the new processor introduced last month. The processor, manufactured with 4nm technology, includes 1 ARM Cortex-X4 core at 3.3 GHz, 3 ARM Cortex-A720 cores at 3.2 GHz, 2 ARM Cortex-A720 cores at 3.0 GHz, and 2 ARM Cortex-A520 cores at 2.3 GHz. The new chip also features the Adreno 750 graphics unit with Ray Tracing support.
The smartphones come with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a high resolution of 2480 x 1116 pixels and a high screen-to-body ratio. To elaborate, the screen-to-body ratio of the devices is measured at 93.7%. The panels also offer 2160 Hz PWM + DC dimming, a 120 Hz refresh rate, 960 Hz touch sampling rate, and a peak brightness of 1600 nits. Moreover, they fully cover the DCI-P3 color gamut and support HDR10+. The selfie camera is also positioned under the display.
The models feature the company’s own Red Core R2 Pro gaming chip, elevating features like tactile feedback, sound, and touch sampling rate to enhance the overall gaming experience. Additionally, the Red Magic 9 Pro comes with a 6500 mAh (80W) battery that charges fully in 35 minutes, while the Pro+ has a 5500 mAh (165W) battery that charges to 100% in 16 minutes.
The smartphones house a triple camera setup on the back, consisting of a 50-megapixel Samsung GN5 main camera with OIS, a 50-megapixel JN1 ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. On the front, there is a 16-megapixel selfie camera. Finally, the Pro model comes with 8/12 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256/512 GB internal storage, while the Pro+ model offers 16/24 GB RAM and options for 256/512 GB and 1 TB storage.
The Red Magic 9 Pro starts at $620, while the Pro+ starts at $775, and pre-orders are currently underway. The general sales of the devices will begin on November 28th.
