Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu delivered the eagerly awaited news to the technology world and citizens. Speaking during budget discussions in the Grand National Assembly, the Minister announced that concrete steps have been taken and a timeline has been set for 5G technology. This development, opening the doors to a new era in the digitalization process, is poised to revolutionize internet speed and communication quality.
Communication speed will increase tenfold with 5G technology.
Minister Uraloğlu emphasized the importance of next-generation infrastructure, stating that a new phase has been reached in the digitalization journey. According to the statements, when this technology is implemented, our current mobile communication speed will reach an incredible level. Citizens will have access to communication that is approximately ten times faster, more reliable, and uninterrupted than their current internet usage.

The financial and institutional foundation for this strategic transformation has also been firmly established. As a result of the authorization tender held by the Ministry on October 16th, a significant revenue of $3.5 billion was secured for the state treasury. This resource will be used for the modernization and expansion of the infrastructure.
Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that 5G is the key to a smarter and more efficient future. He spoke clearly about the much-anticipated date: Turkey will officially experience 5G signaling on April 1, 2026. Starting from this date, coverage will be extended to the entire country within two years.
The new infrastructure will not only speed up internet on our phones but will also transform the industrial and media sectors. Thanks to 5G technology, fully autonomous driving systems will be implemented, and smart transportation networks will be established. Furthermore, media professionals will have access to uninterrupted live broadcasts in 8K image quality. With this move, Turkey aims to increase its production capacity and technological competitiveness.
