The Grand National Assembly of Turkey is meeting with 5G technology. Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, announced that operators have started working to establish 5G infrastructure in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. According to the minister’s statement at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, one operator has completed the installation process in the Parliament and will start test signalling on Friday. Other operators will commission their own systems in March. Thus, MPs and members of the press will experience fast internet at 5G speed in the Parliament.
Parliament will soon have 5G infrastructure
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Uraloğlu emphasised that this development is an important step in strengthening Turkey’s communication infrastructure and adapting to domestic and national technologies. He also stated that the integration of 5G into the Parliament will contribute to the goals of creating a stronger, secure and sustainable communication network. The Minister added that they continue to focus on domestic and national solutions to reinforce Turkey’s independence in the communication ecosystem.

While the transition to 5G technology is gaining momentum in Turkey, the 5G tender is expected to be held this year. According to the planned calendar, it is expected to be widely available in 2026. Public areas such as Istanbul Airport and the stadiums of four major football teams already have 5G signals, and citizens can benefit from high-speed internet service at these points. Following the 5G installation in the Parliament, the process of popularisation of this technology is expected to accelerate further.
