35 Tesla Semi vehicles are being recalled due to defective parking brakes.
According to documents shared by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 35 Tesla Semi vehicles are being recalled due to faulty brakes.
Tesla Semi is perhaps one of the most anticipated vehicles of recent years. After a long wait, the first Tesla trucks were finally delivered last December. However, it seems that things have not started as expected for Tesla Semi, which has recently reached its first owners.
Tesla is recalling 35 Semi trucks
Tesla’s new electric vehicle has been recalled due to faulty parking brakes. According to the documents shared by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 35 Tesla Semi will be recalled. In the shared report, it is stated that the parking brake does not work as desired.
It is stated that the problem was first identified by the parts supplier Bendix. It was announced that the company warned Tesla about the problem detected in February 2023 and then Tesla started to investigate the cause of the problem. Later, it was determined which Tesla Semi trucks the defective part was installed on.
Tesla decided to voluntarily recall 35 trucks that it determined to be equipped with the defective parking brake valve module. It was stated that no complaints were received about the problematic part in this process and that “no crashes, injuries or deaths” occurred due to the component.
To remedy the situation, Tesla will replace the parking brake valve module with a revised part. The new component is said to have improved internal parts that prevent air leakage and allow the driver to engage and disengage the parking brakes.
Tesla Semi delivery date
So far, the electric carmaker has confirmed that 36 Tesla Semi units were produced in 2022 as part of its pilot program. The company has not yet released production figures for the first quarter of 2023. Although 35 units may seem low, it is a high rate for a model that has just started production.
